Quality made in Germany: the Evolution SL J-Bend Disc 6-hole Super Boost Plus Rearwheel-Hub from Newmen As a result, compared to other lightweight hubs Newmens J-bend spoke hubs have ? for example ? up to 50% thicker walls in specific areas to account for extra loads such as braking force. The flange has also been reinforced for extra durability. All components are produced to exact tolerances, while TA (tolerance adjustment) caps deliver additional precision adjustment. The TA caps can be used to adjust all component and assembly tolerances and keep the bearings and hub running smoothly for longer.

Unlike ratchet clutches, the two pulleys of the freewheel system guarantee that all teeth are always fully in use. With ratchet freewheels, on the other hand, in the worst case only one ratchet can be engaged. This places extreme loads on the hubs and freewheel bearings. Under heavy load (e.g. steep uphill) a total failure is usually the result. Both flanges have the same diameter, which adds a few grammes but has the huge added benefit of spreading the braking force more evenly across both sides. Combined with extra material around the high-stress spoke holes, the lifespan of the hubs and spokes is increased even with higher spoke tension or when under extreme loads.
