Quality made in Germany: the Evolution SL Straightpull Disc Center Lock Road Rearwheel-Hub from Newmen The rear hubs feature high-quality double-sealed cartridge bearings coated with a special grease. The grease absorbs up to 25% more water and has an extremely high operating temperature to keep the bearings from wearing down prematurely and corroding. The interior of the 17 mm oversize rear hub axle is double butted for lighter weight and high torsional stiffness. Not only do straight-pull hubs have a more modern design, but there is also no contact between the spokes thus eliminating spoke noise. This prevents the spoke heads from working themselves into the flange. All components are produced to exact tolerances, while TA (tolerance adjustment) caps deliver additional precision adjustment. The TA caps can be used to adjust all component and assembly tolerances and keep the bearings and hub running smoothly for longer.
Unlike ratchet clutches, the two pulleys of the freewheel system guarantee that all teeth are always fully in use. With ratchet freewheels, on the other hand, in the worst case only one ratchet can be engaged. This places extreme loads on the hubs and freewheel bearings.
